Community Capacity-Building for Community Leaders

Community leaders can prepare for climate change by implementing a range of strategies to build resilience and adapt to changing environmental conditions. By taking these actions, community leaders can foster climate resilience and help their communities better prepare for and adapt to the challenges posed by climate change.

Tensegrity Centre guides community leaders in:

• Educating and raising awareness among residents about climate risks and adaptation strategies - both physical and mental
• Considering equity in climate change planning, recognizing that impacts are not felt evenly across society
• Establishing climate action goals, influencing local, provincial.territorial, and federal policies, and create investment programs tailored to the community's specific needs
• Providing direct mental health support to communities (leaders, citizens, and emergency management teams) throughout seasonal disruption due to natural disaster threat, preparation for evacuation, evacuation, and potential return to and rebuilding of community. 
• Enhancing community capacity-building through community engagement strategies to strengthen resilience of community leaders and citizens.
