Taking care of your Heart when the Earth is changing...

We are there.

Climate change can impact an individual deeply. Whether you are reacting to the threat or loss of your own home/livelihood due to natural disaster, trying to determine how to raise a child in a very different world than you grew up in, or working as a first responder in the face of unfamiliar new climate threats, we are there.

Tensegrity Centre clinicians are trained as both registered social workers and as environmental scientists. Geographically as diverse as the lands upon which we live, our clinicians provide culturally-responsive, trauma-informed, evidence-based, placed practices. Clinicians utilize a variety of modalities to support their clients, feeling most drawn to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and contemporary brief therapies (solution-focused brief therapy, mindfulness, brief narrative therapy, and competency-based approaches), all supported by recent research and professional guidelines.

But resilience-building does not need to occur only in isolation. Group programs provide safe spaces for individuals to process emotions collectively, thereby reducing isolation and fostering hope. Such groups allow for the communal expression of grief and anxiety, which is crucial since climate-related distress is often experienced as a collective issue.

Effective social work approaches for climate anxiety combine individual support, group processing, community resilience, and systemic advocacy. At Tensegrity Centre for Climate Resilience, we do this work to process climate-related emotions and to foster a one of agency and hope. This work focuses on the individual but also integrates the broader social, cultural, and environmental contexts.
